February Newsletter

Heritage Lottery Fund project.

On 24th January the Chairman of the Committee who will decide whether our grant application of £1,500,000 will be awarded came to Clare.  We presented our case to him and showed him some of the Park.  Unfortunately when we were on the top of the motte torrential rain fell which restricted the tour.  We will know whether our application has been successful in the latter part of March.
At the public meeting at 7.30pm on Wednesday 21st February in the Clare Park Centre we will give the same presentation we made to the HLF on 24th January.  This will be an opportunity to hear more of the details and to ask questions about the project.  Let me know if you think you might be there.

Food, Drink and Music festival.

As a result of a very useful introduction we have reached an agreement with Market Square Group to run a Food, Drink and Music festival on 31st August and 1st and 2nd of September this year.  There have been requests for events of this type and we are pleased that we have been able to find an experienced company that will organise and run the event for us, for which the Trust will receive a fee.

This initial event will limited but will hopefully grow into more extensive festivals in later years. Market Square Group, who run numerous events throughout the country (they run the very successful Christmas Market in Bury St Edmunds) are responsible for all the costs, and, understandably, take a cautious approach in the first year.
