Clare Castle Country Park Trust (“the Trust”) currently issues parking permits (“Passes” or a “Pass”) enabling drivers to park for 6 or 12 months without buying a standard parking ticket. The intention of these Passes is to allow those who drive to Clare for work, visit the Town or Park regularly and/or have a disability and hold a Blue Badge, to do so at a favourable rate.  Only blue badge holders with an off-street pass may use the car park for off-street parking; this is intended to keep the car park available for visitors.

Passes will not be issued to anyone living (whether permanently or temporarily) within half a mile of the car park, unless the holder has a valid and current Blue Badge at the date of issue. This includes anyone living in Clare for whatever length of time, including those in temporary accommodation. If it is found that a holder is using their Pass for off street parking during the day, the Trust will revoke that Pass.

Passes will not be issued to anyone living (whether permanently or temporarily) within half a mile of the car park, unless the holder has a valid and current Blue Badge at the date of issue.

Passes are intended for cars or small vans and are not suitable for larger vehicles.

Passes may be obtained by accepting the Terms & Conditions set out below, completing the application form and paying the correct sum.

  1. Visitor Parking Passes cost £50 for 6 months or £75 for 12 months for weekday parking OR £100 for 6 months or £150 for 12 months for passes which allow parking seven days a week.
  2. Off-street Parking Passes (available to residents holding a Blue Badge only) cost £300 per year for weekday parking OR £500 per year for unlimited (seven days a week) parking.

The Trust reserves the right to increase permit and other parking charges at any time and to withdraw its permit scheme at any time.

Terms and Conditions

  1. Passes are not transferable and may only be used for the one vehicle registration given by the holder. Holders may not have passes for two or more vehicles concurrently.
  2. Only passes marked “Off-street parking pass” can be used for off-street parking. It is a condition of issue of a standard (Visitor) Parking Pass that the applicant confirms that they will not use their Pass for off-street parking.
  3. Visitor Passes will not be issued to anyone living within half a mile of the car park at Clare Castle Country Park or intending to live there during the permit period, unless they hold a valid and current Blue Badge. As part of the application process such applicants will be required to provide evidence of their Blue Badge. If a pass holder (other than an individual with a valid, current Blue Badge) moves within half of mile of the car park during the period of the Pass, they are required to notify the Trust of this change and the Pass will be revoked.
  4. Passes are only valid if issued by the Trust for use in Clare Castle Country Park car park.
  5. Passes must be prominently displayed on the inside of the front windscreen so that the information can be read by a civil enforcement officer.
  6. Failure to display a Pass will result in the issuing of an Excess Charge Notice by West Suffolk District Council.
  7. Excess Charge Notices will not be cancelled on production of the Pass after the event – the offence is for failing to display the Pass.
  8. Lost or stolen Passes will not be replaced.
  9. At the sole discretion of the Trust, where an owner changes their vehicle a replacement Pass may be issued, provided the owner returns the Pass giving details of the previous registration and pays any reasonable administration charge requested by the Trust. Under no circumstances will the Trust provide a refund for a Pass.
  10. Lost or stolen Passes should be reported to the Trust immediately to avoid fraudulent use.
  11. Pass parking is subject to the availability of spaces. Under no circumstances can a space be reserved or guaranteed.
  12. Vehicles must be no more than 2m wide and 4.8m in length.
  13. If a Pass holder fails to observe any of the above conditions, the Trust reserves the right to withdraw the car parking Pass without refund and may withhold future issue.
  14. The Trust may increase its charges, withdraw its Pass scheme or alter the basis on which it issues Passes at any time. The issue of a Pass is at the complete discretion of the Trust and in no way implies that a Pass will be issued at renewal.
  15. Applicants consent to their data supplied in the application form being held by the Trust and used for the purposes of managing the car park and Pass scheme.
