Clare, set in the heart of the Stour Valley, is steeped in history and surrounded by glorious countryside that provides a feast of opportunities for walkers.  With wildlife and history trails and a range of circular walks beginning and ending here, the Park is the perfect centre for exploring this lovely part of Suffolk on foot.

Start at the Park’s visitor centre in the former station waiting room and pick up the Clare town trail, Park trails and leaflets for a range of walks from 1 to 8.5 miles in length.  The town trail and walks leaflets are also available from the cafe (open every day except Monday), and walks leaflets can be downloaded from Clare Walkers’ website.

For visitors with limited mobility, please see our Accessibility page for information about trails within the Park.

For easy to moderate walks with some glorious views and fascinating insights into the area’s rich history, our range of walks offers sufficient variety for a full week of walking.  Clare is a Walkers are Welcome town and walkers will find a truly warm welcome here, as well as a thousand years of history to explore.
