The Playground

The refurbished playground within the Park is situated in the outer bailey and is easily accessible by foot from the centre of Clare. The playground is a few minutes walk from the Park’s main car park and has toilet and baby changing facilities adjacent to it.

The playground is very popular with children and is surrounded by grass and plenty of space for family picnics. The Platform One Café is only a short walk away where you can purchase refreshments for the whole family (and the dog!). Please note that the playground is the Park’s only dog free area.

During the summer months, an ice cream van visits the main car park on a regular basis!

The Play Train at the Cattle Dock

Stationed along the cattle dock between the café and the Old Goods Shed, the play train is modelled on the GER Class T18 Steam Locomotive and has plenty of space for exploration and play.

Nestled around the corner from Platform One Café, children can let their imaginations run riot on this unique piece of equipment.

Trails and Exploring

We have developed a number of different trails and routes that families can enjoy whilst visiting the Park. Our trails are all available on our Park Map web page or can be downloaded as a PDF by clicking here: Explorer Trail

You can also take yourself on a journey with Otto & Woody, our resident otter and woodpecker (check them out at either end of the Nature Trail). This family-friendly activity challenges you to find, spot and explore all aspects of the Park and there is a colouring in page that can be downloaded and printed for children to enjoy.

Take a look at the trail Join Otto & Woody and discover the secrets and surprises of our unique Country Park.

Hard copy versions of these leaflets are available from our Visitor Centre.

If you would like to get started on your colouring straight away you can download our custom colouring in page to print at home here.
