Saturday 30th May
Clare Castle Parkrun
Parkrun takes place in Clare Castle Country Park every Saturday at 9am, starting from near the car park. The 5km course is run on a mixture of tarmac paths and trail paths. It usually attracts over 100 runners: being flat it’s a great course if you’re looking for a personal best. Participants are of all ages and abilities, with some walkers joining in, and there’s a lot of support and encouragement for everyone who takes part. The course ends near the cafe, which is very popular for a post-run coffee.
This is one of the vast number of Parkruns that take place worldwide at the same time every Saturday. Using an individual’s barcode (which can be obtained from www.parkrun.org.uk) times are recorded and available to participants. The course in the Park is essentially three laps (excluding the Railway Walk) starting from the Inner Bailey and using the main paths around the Park and down to Ashen Road and back. The course includes rivers, woodland and the baileys of a Norman castle, so there’s always something to look at.
