Our short circular walks, each 2 miles long, are designed for walkers who want to explore Clare and its surrounding countryside without having to climb stiles or cross ploughed fields. Each walk is graded as easy, can be undertaken in 60-80 minutes without rushing and introduces the walker to different aspects of Clare and the local area.
Leaflets can be picked up at the Park’s visitor centre or cafe. Alternatively PDFs may be downloaded below.
Why not combine one of our short walks with a tour of the Park, a visit to the cafe and a stroll through Clare’s charming streets, for a very enjoyable half day or day’s outing?

Hermitage Farm and the Common
This walk takes you around the edge of Clare, along the stretch of river known as the New Cut, through the Park alongside the Chilton Stream and towards Hermitage Farm. You will walk across Clare Common where remains of a Saxon or earlier settlement can be seen. Parts of the walk can be muddy in winter; suitable footwear is advised.

The Common, Nuttery and Priory
The Common, Nuttery and Priory Walk is a tour of the hinterlands of the town and takes you through places of historical note and beauty. This walk is a particular delight in Spring when the Common is a sea of yellow.

The Short Long Lane
The Short Long Lane Walk is an opportunity to cross the river and walk along an ancient drovers’ way, returning to the Park along part of the Stour Valley Path and through the historic Clare Priory.

Two Counties Short Walk
The Two Counties Short Walk is a grand name for a walk that takes in part of the Park, the Town, the Nuttery, the Priory and the River Stour. Discover different parts of Clare and enjoy the scenery offered by our small town.
